Little surprises almost gone unnoticed

Another long week down, another annual student art show wrapped up and today I was able to come home early while the sun was still out. A bonus included a Chinook which had the temperature registering around 4ÂșC.

I was also glad for a small surprise: some blossoms from a few crab apple branches I had pruned the first week of January (following the lead of a gardener on the Cal. Hort. forum, right after which my Mom informed me this wasn't a good idea... oh well: it will be just wait and see now).

To see a great post on forcing branches please go here.

Happy weekend everyone.

  1. I love all the colours in the last photo! I have been avoiding our yard as the damp cold feels very unwelcoming to me. Today we ventured out for a short time and I discovered A gorgeous Hellebore blossoming and several more buds on the way. The daffodils and crocuses are several inches up. Things look wild and in need of attention, but it's a sign that the best season is right around the corner.
